-This exhibition brings together works by two painters, Geoff Tibbs and Eleanor Engle, who share a fascination with the possibilities and problems of abstraction.

The works of both artists, though abstract, are grounded in tangible forms, sometimes playful, sometimes singular or ambiguous. Their works evolve through the processes and pleasures of their materials, seeking a resolution that is at once surprising and durable.

Beyond this, there are many points of difference and overlap between the two artists, which have led to an evolving dialogue between them and their works. The show has arisen out of this dialogue: the title, 'Between You and Me,' suggests ongoing conversation, but also a sense of secrecy, as if whispers are being exchanged between the works on the walls.

Geoff Tibbs (b. 1988) is based in London and uses a range of visual ideas in his oil paintings to explore the relationship between spontaneity and form. His imagery sits between the architectural and the organic, between the monumental and the decorative. His work has been shown at the Gerald Moore Gallery in London, Lido Stores in Margate, Grölle Gallery in Wuppertal, Germany, and Chitrakoot Gallery in Kolkata, India. He graduated from a BA in Fine Art at the University of Oxford in 2010 and from an MA in Global Media at the School of Oriental and African Studies in 2012. He is a magician and member of The Magic Circle.

Eleanor Engle (b. 1959) works in both paint and print media, her prints produced rapidly and experimentally, her paintings evolving more slowly. Her work is underpinned by a powerful sense of shape and juxtaposition. The starting point of her imagery often comes from forms she happens to see on the pavement, walking about in London. Her work has been shown at the Eagle Gallery, Artsway, The Woburn Gallery, and The Koppel Station, following a recent residency there. She studied at the Central School of Art and Design, completing a BA in Fine Art in 1986 and Advanced Studies in Printmaking in 1989.
