Based in London, Nicole Price is a painter working primarily in oils. Her practice focuses on individual objects and curated collections that evoke memory. She is fascinated by the things we collect and accumulate around us, and she explores their archival qualities as portals to past events, people, and places. The heirlooms she paints carry a sense of melancholy, loss, and longing, serving as quiet backdrops to human presence.
Nicole often paints both public and private collections, drawn to the ways objects are grouped, decorated, and infused with nostalgia. These collections bear invisible traces of the lives and rituals of our predecessors—marks of touch, tradition, and the quiet stories embedded in everyday objects. She is especially captivated by the rhythms that arise through the juxtaposition of artifacts and images.
More recently, Nicole’s work has been shaped by her daily walks through the ancient woodland near her home in North London. Here, she finds parallels between the landscape and the domestic interior, seeing the familiarity of trees as akin to objects. Immersing herself in patterns and textures, she explores the repetitive forms revealed in natural structures. The trees have become another form of collection—subtly shifting with light and season, yet still holding on to memory, shared experience, and fleeting moments in time.
