*Domestic Affairs* is an exhibition by Brazilian artist Flávia Felipe. The works explore female freedom as something shaped through the conquest and preservation of personal space—encompassing the home, the body, pleasure, safety, independence, and self-knowledge.
As an immigrant artist, the notion of claiming and maintaining space becomes particularly significant within the exhibition. The works reflect on the ways women negotiate autonomy and belonging, both physically and emotionally, in their everyday lives.
The exhibition also embraces a distinctly domestic character. Produced in the small studio-flat where the artist lives—located directly behind the gallery wall—the works emerge from the intimate overlap between living, working, and creating. This proximity between home and exhibition space reinforces the project's feminist perspective, grounding broader political questions in the realities of daily life and local experience.
Through collage, mixed media, objects, and publication, Domestic Affairs weaves together intimate and political narratives, inviting viewers to reflect on autonomy, boundaries, and the everyday structures that shape women's lives.
