Ephemera
Works by Jaeyeon Choi
PV: Sat 7th December 1-4PM
Open 5-15th December
“Ephemera” is an exhibition that explores the aesthetics of moments that disappear and transform. This exhibition sheds new light on the value of temporary and fleeting, asking questions about how materials disappear and leave traces over time. It seeks to explore how trivial objects that have permeated our daily lives can change their form and meaning over time, offering us new visual and sensory experiences.
The exhibition space features installations in which the audience can participate. The works act as media symbolising the finiteness of material and time, and allowing us to experience transformations in form and meaning. Just as blue plastic bags hanging in the air lose air and quietly shrink over time, all the works in the exhibition gradually convey their own ‘ephemeral’ voices through the process of disappearance.
Through this exhibition, the audience can sensually experience the transience of material and the flow of time. What is the message that these changing objects convey to us through their form, color, and texture? “Ephemera” is a journey to discover eternal value and aesthetics in beings that will eventually disappear. The audience will encounter the ‘ephemera’ of this era, seeking intangible remnants even in fleeting moments.
