Bringing together painting, drawing, and installation, the exhibition explores states of living between — between cultures, histories, and modes of selfhood. Across distinct yet resonant approaches, the artists investigate identity as fluid and unsettled, shaped by memory, inheritance, and recurring patterns of influence.
The figure is central across the exhibition, appearing as a recurring site through which personal and collective narratives are negotiated. Fragmented, layered, and reconfigured, the figure becomes a vessel for complexity, contradiction, and projection, resisting fixed or singular readings.
Rihanata Bigey is a London-based multidisciplinary artist whose work examines cross-cultural identity, memory, and belonging through personal and cultural histories. Centring Black women, she examines race, gender, and the stereotypes surrounding them, using material processes and image- making as languages to communicate ideas and affirm lived experiences.
Rabiya Nagi is a London-based contemporary painter whose practice explores personal and collective memory, perception, and identity through subtly surreal compositions. Shaped by experiences of living between cultures, her work investigates frameworks of influence and their effects on perception, situating memory and imagination in a state of productive tension.
Yasmin Teniola Idris is a London-based multidisciplinary artist and architectural designer. Her practice explores identity, ancestry, memory, and dreams through mythic worlds within the MaybeArt Universe, an artistic framework for imagining life beyond oppressive structures.
Meanwhile, Here invites viewers to encounter these layered narratives, where forms, memory, and influence unfold in subtle, overlapping ways.
