The exhibition Void and Vision brings together a collection of works that explore the deep connection between emptiness and imagination. "Void" symbolises the silent, uncertain moments many artists experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic—a time when the world felt paused and disconnected. However, within that emptiness, new ideas, emotions, and reflections were born.
"Vision" represents the creative energy and fresh perspectives that emerged from that stillness. It shows how artists turned their feelings of isolation, loss, and waiting into powerful works of art. Void and Visionhighlights how moments of emptiness can open doors to self-discovery, deep reflection, and new beginnings.
This exhibition celebrates the power of art to heal, transform, and connect, even when the world seems silent. Through their different styles and expressions, the artists demonstrate that sometimes, the deepest creativity comes from the quietest spaces.
About Us — The Artists:
We, the participating artists of Void and Vision — Nahija Nadeem, Vidushi, Bhagat, Nikesh Maharjan, Neha Dewangan, and Shaileshkumar Chavda — are currently pursuing our Master’s in Painting at the University of East London. It was here, in the heart of London, that our paths crossed. Despite coming from different regions, our bond was natural and strong, as we share similar Asian cultural roots. We all come from neighboring countries, carrying the rich traditions, histories, and emotions of South Asia.
Our different backgrounds bring unique perspectives, yet we are united by shared experiences—both personal and cultural. Studying together at UEL has allowed us to grow not only as individual artists but also as a community, learning from each other's journeys, challenges, and visions.
This exhibition is a reflection of that journey — of friendship, cultural connection, shared struggles, and personal growth. Through Void and Vision, we hope to present a story that is both personal and universal: how emptiness can lead to new dreams, and how vision can bring them to life.
