WHY AM I SO HOT?
PV 24th June - 6 - 8PM
Open: 12 - 4 PM Friday-Sunday between 20th - 29th June
Curated by Alicia Pivaro & Justine Hounam
This exhibition playfully and powerfully explores the Menopause is all its’ complexity. Until recently considered a taboo, the last ten years has been a flurry of books, tv shows and articles about this important, transformative stage of women lives despite the claim by Ursula K Le Guin in 1976 ‘the menopause is probably the least glamorous topic imaginable’ (The Space Crone).
Now us Crones are celebrating and sharing what the menopause brings – beyond the hot flushes, fury, brain fog it also offers liberation and opportunities for radical change. Not giving a shit is very empowering.
Work by 16 artists shares this extreme range of emotions, thoughts, mental and physical symptoms with humour and honesty.
